Clocks- 5 (Five): American shelf clocks: (1) Jerome's Gilbert, Grant & Co., Bristol, Conn., round side shelf clock with a weight driven 30 hour time and strike movement in a mahogany veneered case, c1839; (2) Chauncey Jerome, New Haven, Conn., steeple shelf clock with a spring driven 30 hour time and strike movement in a rosewood veneered case, c1850 (3) New Haven Clock Co., New Haven, Conn., "Gypsy Line B" shelf clock with a spring driven, 8 day, time and strike movement in an oak case, c1911. (4) Seth Thomas Clock Co., Thomaston, Conn., "Round Band" shelf clock with a spring driven 30 hour time and strike movement in a mahogany veneered case, c1870. (5) Terry & Andrews, Bristol, Conn., steeple shelf clock with a spring driven, 8 day, time and strike lyre movement in a mahogany veneered case, c1848.
CONDITION:
(1) The case retains an original finish and is in very good condition with the exception of a depressed are on the right side of the case. The painted dial is in very good condition but is a replacement. The hands appear to be original. The door glass and mirror both appear to be original. Part of the mirror surface has been scraped away. The weights are missing; (2) The case has been refinished with minor veneer loss. The original dial has been poorly repainted. The hands are period. The upper door glass has been replaced. The lower door etched glass is original with wear. (3) The case is darkly stained. The painted dial has loss at the winding holes. The Hands are original. The door glass is original. (4) The case finish is original with some minor veneer loss. The painted dial has substantial loss. The hands are original. The top door glass is cracked. The bottom door glass is original. (5) The case has a newer finish and several areas of veneer loss and veneer repair. The dial has been poorly restored. The hands may be original. The two door glasses are original. ***NOTES*** The dimensions are for clock number 1.
